Creating and Editing Movies
Several students and I shot video and complied the clips into this iMovie. This iMovie is a great example of using engaging digital tools to support and promote creativity with students.
Creating Music
GarageBand is musical editing software for Macs. In my technology classes, students enjoy putting pre-made loops together to make a unique sound. I use this song as a personal demonstration to begin the unit and show the students that personal creativity is important, not making some record-ready sound.
Creating and Editing Photos
Photo editing is a fun and important skill to teach students, whether it is basic editing with a program like iPhoto or more advanced editing with programs like Adobe Photoshop. Below is an image I edited of a pair of shoes hanging above the road in Fairbanks, AK. I show this to my students to demonstrate that creativity can be fun and personal, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be this amazing, professional finished product; it can be something quite simple. The point is to just get creative with the digital tools available to you.
