The Essential Role of the Teacher in Computer-Based Educational Reforms
While there are certainly exceptions to this rule, namely exceptional students, in general computer-based technologies cannot educate students without the presence, online or in person, of a teacher using them in an intentional, theory-backed way. This paper advocates the theory of a "Mediated Learning Environment" (MLE). In regards to digital technology, the student must experience the technology through the influence of the teacher, instead of being given full freedom to do anything they want with the technology.
